Breeze Airways (MX, Salt Lake City) has been granted US Federal Aviation Administration approval for International Supplemental Operations as part of efforts to obtain flag carrier status and launch international operations, which are currently planned for the winter season of 2024/2025.

First reported by FlightGlobal, the three-year-old carrier expects to obtain said designation by the end of the summer “so that we can sell the winter season,” the company’s founder and chief executive officer David Neeleman said. Flag carrier designation is necessary for any carrier to secure international traffic rights.

In its first phase, Breeze Airways would fly to Latin America and the Caribbean from Providence. However, the carrier has not disclosed any actual destinations it may be considering.

The airline is also eyeing transatlantic services to Europe, particularly to destinations like Ireland, which are within the range of its A220-300s.

ch-aviation has reached out to Breeze Airways for comment.

The ch-aviation fleets module shows that Breeze Airways’ fleet comprises 40 aircraft, including twenty-five A220-300s, ten E190s, and five E195s.
