Luxair (LG, Luxembourg) has firmed up two options for E195-E2 aircraft attached to its 2023 firm order for four units of the type from Embraer.

The two additional aircraft are scheduled for deliveries in 2027. The first four aircraft will begin delivering to the airline in 2026. Luxair retains three more purchase rights for E195-E2s, which can also be converted to E190-E2s.

"The E195-E2 is a critical investment in Luxair's future, enabling us to balance growth with our commitment to a greener and quieter future," chief executive Gilles Feith said.

Luxair will configure its E195-E2s for up to 136 passengers each in a single-class configuration.

The Luxembourgish flag carrier is in the midst of a wide-ranging fleet renewal programme. It currently dry-leases two B737-8s but will replace them with four aircraft on a direct order from Boeing by 2027. It also has firm orders directly from the manufacturer for four B737-7s and two B737-10s. The aircraft will eventually replace the existing fleet of four B737-700s and four B737-800s. In turn, the E195-E2s are incremental to the existing fleet and will not replace the turboprops; Luxair currently operates eleven DHC-8-Q400s. The airline is still evaluating the future of its turboprop fleet.
