Carpatair (V3, Timisoara) has announced that it has won a court case against discounts provided by its hub airport in Timisoara to competitor Wizz Air (W6, Budapest). The airport had introduced a new discount scheme to get Wizz Air to base an A320-200 and a Romanian court of appeal has now declared these discounts as illegal state aid given the airport authority is state owned and has not provided similar discounts to other carriers including Carpatair. Wizz Air currently operates to 10 destinations from Timisoara offering an average of three daily departures.
