Aurigny Air Services (GR, Guernsey) is planning to replace its two Do228-212(NG)s with damp-leased DHC-6 Twin Otters, the BBC has reported.

The president of the policy and resources committee of the Guernsey government's States' Trading Supervisory Board, Peter Roffey, said the plan was still at an early stage and yet to be approved by the local authorities. As the aircraft would be maintained by the lessor rather than Aurigny, it could result in "huge savings" for the airline because it would only have to maintain its ATR72-600 fleet.

Roffey said that the plan was to source three aircraft - two to replace the Dornier aircraft and a third for medevac. There are reportedly two lessors interested in providing the aircraft. Aurigny Air Services, which is owned by the local government, would provide the crews.

The Do228-212(NG)s, which are eight years old on average, are currently deployed on scheduled services out of Alderney (which is runway-restricted to small aircraft) to Guernsey and Southampton. They are also used for medevac flights.

The ch-aviation fleets module shows that Aurigny Air Services also operates five ATR72-600s. It retired its only E195 in 2024 to focus on a turboprop-only fleet.
