Emirates (EK, Dubai International) has signed up for one-hundred-and-fifty B777Xs with options for a further fifty at the ongoing Dubai Airshow. Boeing (BOE, Washington National) mentioned no exact type-variants in the deal's announcement. The 777X will be formally named at a later date. Design of the 777X is underway and suppliers will be named in the coming months. Production is set to begin in 2017, with first delivery targeted for 2020. Meanwhile, Emirates has placed an additional order for fifty A380-800 aircraft with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac).
