Air Panama (7P, Panamá City Paitilla) shareholders George Novey and Eduardo Stagg have once more pulled together to form Tica Air International (San José Juan Santamaría), a new Costa Rican start-up set to go live before December of this year. According to LatinAmericanAirlineNews, the carrier will launch flights between San José Juan Santamaría and Miami International using an Air Panama B737-300. Additional routes to Panamá City Tocumen International, Managua, David, Bocas del Toro and San Andrés Island are also expected at some point in the future. Mr Stagg said his two companies running in parallel to one another would provide for better economies of scale. Meanwhile, another Puerto Rican startup, TICOS - Líneas Aéreas de Costa Rica (San José Juan Santamaría), which had planned to launch flights before the end of last year, has stalled in its Air Operators Certificate application after it failed to present any of its planned five A319-100s to the local civil aviation authority (Dirección General de Aviación Civil - DGAC).
