Santaco Airlines (Johannesburg Lanseria) could launch in the middle of next year Bafana Magagula, the chief strategic manager of the South African National Taxi Council (Santaco), has said.
Speaking to South Africa's BusinessDay, Magagula said Santaco had not abandoned its plans to launch the carrier addiing that the current difficult nature of the market meant it had to be extremely prudent in its timing.
Founded in 2011, Santaco would have been South Africa's first fully black-owned airline offering budget flights between Johannesburg Lanseria and Cape Town International as well as the former homeland towns of Bhisho and Mthatha in the Eastern Cape. Operations were to have been on-board a B737-200Adv, ZS-SSZ (msn 23470), leased from the now defunct AirQuarius Aviation (Johannesburg Lanseria).
