Centurion Air Cargo (Miami International) has resolved a lawsuit filed against it by a group of five Irish statutory trusts the South Florida Business Journal has reported. The suit, lodged against it and its SkyLease Cargo (GG, Miami International) sister carrier in September last year, was in relation to USD10.2million in unpaid lease payments owed on four MD-11(F)s and one B747-400(F).
However, it has since emerged that the cargo specialist is once again embroiled in a legal showdown, this time with Aero Miami III LLC. The Journal says Aero Miami III is trying to evict Centurion from its cargo facility at Miami International though the reasons for doing so remain unclear. A hearing is set for this week.
Centurion filed a case against Aero Miami III in 2013 alleging that it was improperly charging the airline USD50,000 a month in management fees as part of a sublease, plus a USD2 million fee for deferred rent. The contested lawsuit remains outstanding.
