B&H Airlines (Sarajevo) has resumed flight operations after its last remaining aircraft - ATR72-200 E7-AAE (cn 465) - was ferried to Mönchengladbach to undergo routine maintenance late last week. According to the carrier, the aircraft returned on Sunday, March 15 in time to operate flights from Zurich to Sarajevo via Banja Luka International.
A 2x weekly service to Copenhagen Kastrup has also resumed while Belgrade Nikola Tesla flights are expected to recommence on March 28. The carrier is scheduled to operate charters between Pescara and Mostar from April 3 to October 15 on behalf of Italian tour operator, Foggia-based G-Tours.
B&H Airlines' other ATR72 - E7-AAD (cn 464) - is still grounded in Mönchengladbach pending the payment of EUR200,000 (USD205,000) in outstanding MRO fees.
Though its shareholder, the Bosnian government, has pledged its financial support, the debt-stricken carrier has limped from one crisis to the next resulting in growing doubts about its future.
Earlier this month, government was able to stave off an impending closure of the airline when it successfully renegotiated bridging agreements with Austrian banking conglomerate Hypo Group Alpe Adria (HGAA), owners of the two ATR72s, and Sarajevo Airport d.o.o concerning outstanding leasing and ground-handling debts owed by the carrier.
