Aerocon (Santa Cruz El Trompillo) has been given until Friday, March 27 to resume operations or risk losing its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) the Bolivian regulatory authority (Autoridad de Regulación y Fiscalización de Telecomunicaciones y Transportes – ATT) has said.
The domestic carrier suspended operations with effect from February 27 citing the need to retool its business model which had suffered in the face of intense competition. However, the ATT has warned that the airline could not legally suspend operations without first consulting both itself and the Bolivian civil aviation authority (Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil - DGAC).
AeroLatin News says last week, the executive director of the DGAC, Luis Coimbra, said the carrier had 45 days left to "regularize their operations" or risk the consequences.
Prior to it suspending operations, Aerocon had operated four Metroliners on flights throughout Bolivia with plans to introduce larger aircraft as part of its revised business plan.
