Satena (9R, Bogotá) has unveiled an ambitious expansion plan which will see it opening a hub in Bucaramanga to serve Colombia's north-east. According to ch-aviation schedule data, beginning May 4, Bucaramanga will be connected to Arauca, Cúcuta, Yopal, Medellín Enrique Olaya Herrera, and Saravena using ATR72-500 aircraft.
"These routes are the result of preparation and coordination with the community, local authorities and other driving factors - largely work-related," Juan Carlos Gutiérrez, the state-backed carrier's commercial director, said.
Established by government decree in 1962, Satena (Servicio Aéreo a TErritorios NAcionales) specializes in serving Colombia's more remote towns and cities using a fleet of eight ATR42-500s, two ATR72-500s, one E170, one E145, three Let 410s operated by SEARCA - Servicio Aéreo de Capurgana (SRC, Medellín Enrique Olaya Herrera), and two Y12Es.
