The Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications has rejected a proposal by Avies (Tallinn Lennart Meri) to partner SkyTaxi (Poland) (TE, Wroclaw) in the resumption of flights between the Estonian mainland and the islands of Kuressaare and Kärdla effective April 11.
In a statement, the Ministry said that since the Estonian Civil Aviation Administration (Lennuamet) suspended Avies's AOC earlier this month, the carrier's contract to service the routes was no longer considered valid. As such, the contract will be retendered for in the coming weeks to ensure connectivity throughout the summer season, the ministry said.
Thus far, Nordica (ND, Tallinn Lennart Meri) has expressed an interest in servicing the routes with other regional operators expected to apply as well.
