Sunair Aviation (Tauranga) has announced it has resumed operations as of Friday, December 16. The move comes several days after the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand (CAANZ) ordered the domestic carrier to suspend all operations citing unspecified concerns about its safety oversight.
"The issues were around the company's management structure essentially," airline owner Dan Power told The New Zealand Herald. "That has been bolstered now to the satisfaction of the authority - their safety concerns have been met. The suspension was never about the proficiency of our flight crew or the airworthiness of our airplanes."
Sunair specialises in sightseeing charters as well as scheduled air-taxi flights connecting several New Zealand airports using Cessna (single piston) 172s and Piper (twin piston) PA-23 Aztecs.
