British Airways (BA, London Heathrow) is set to further expand its coverage of the United Kingdom's market this summer using its BA CityFlyer (CJ, London City) subsidiary.
Following on from its recent unveiling of Manchester International as a focus city this summer, the IAG International Airlines Group unit this week announced that effective this May, it would be opening up 1x weekly (weekends only) flights from each of Birmingham, GB and Bristol International to the Spanish resort towns of Malaga, Ibiza, and Palma de Mallorca as well as the Italian city of Florence Peretola. Operations are on-board BA CityFlyer E190 equipment.
British Airways last flew from Birmingham and Bristol in 2007 when its regional airline business was sold to flybe. (2002) (Exeter).
For its part, BA CityFlyer's operations have primarily focussed on the airports of London City and London Stansted.
