CiTylinK (Accra) has set in motion plans to resume operations the Director General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GhCAA), Simon Allotey, has said.
In an interview with Ghana's CitiFM radio, Allotey confirmed the dormant carrier renewed its Air Carrier Licence (ACL) in February five years after it suspended operations. He did not specify which routes CiTyLiK had been awarded.
The ACL is a precursor to the airline's AOC recertification which is expected to follow in the coming months.
Airline management was unavailable for comment.
Established in 2003, CiTylinK offered passenger charter, medevac, and aerial photographic services in addition to scheduled passenger flight throughout Ghana. It suspended operations in August 2012 citing financial difficulties. Prior to its collapse, it had concluded the sale of a 49% stake to EgyptAir (MS, Cairo International) which planned to equip it with E170 and, eventually, B737-800 equipment.
