G Jets (White Plains) has applied to the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) for commuter air carrier authorisation. The New York-based carrier proposes to run scheduled commuter operations between Hyannis and Nantucket, and between White Plains and Nantucket, using G Jets' existing PC-12 N1211A (msn 663) and a planned additional Cessna (twin piston) 402 aircraft.
The Hyannis – Nantucket route intends to tap into the business market. It will be competing directly against Cape Air (9K, Hyannis), which offers approximately 540 seats per week on the route. The route had also previously been served by Island Airlines (Nantucket) until its demise in December 2015. G Jets expects demand to be strong considering that Island Airlines deployed 15 aircraft on this route.
The White Plains - Nantucket route is for leisure passengers looking to weekend away from New York.
