G Jets (White Plains) is set to be granted commuter air carrier authorisation by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) following an application lodged earlier this year in April.
In its Show Cause order published last week, the DOT said it had found G Jets fit, willing, and able to conduct scheduled passenger operations as a commuter air carrier.
G Jets currently provides passenger charter services to locations on the North East coast including Portland International Jetport, Maine; Newport Municipal, Rhode Island; Boston, Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts; East Hampton Town, New York; and to destinations in Florida and Texas, using one PC-12.
However, if granted the commuter authority that it seeks, G Jets intends to conduct two round trips per day, six days a week, between Hyannis and Nantucket, Massachusetts, during the summer months of June through August and one round trip per day during September through May. Additionally, it intends to run a second route between White Plains, New York, and Nantucket, Massachusetts, offering ten trips per week during the summer months of June through August and six trips per week in the months of September through May.
G Jets plans to conduct its proposed operations using two aircraft: the PC-12 aircraft and a Cessna (twin piston) 402 which will be acquired and put into service should it receive commuter authority.
The launch of scheduled passenger services is, however, contingent on G Jets being certificated by the FAA to engage in the operations it has requested.
