Star Air (India) (S5, Belgaum) is an Indian start-up planning to commence scheduled passenger flights during the first quarter of 2018.
An airline statement says it has already secured two E145s which will deliver towards year-end in time for a proposed February 2018 launch.
In March this year, parent firm Ghodawat Enterprises applied to the Indian government for permission to operate a Scheduled Air Transport Service. In its application, the firm said Star Air would run regular passenger flights from Belgaum to Mumbai International, Delhi International, Chennai, and Tirupati initially before expanding further afield in the Indian market.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is said to have already issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
