SkyWest Airlines (OO, St. George Municipal) has announced it has signed a firm order agreement with Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos U.E. Stumpf International) for twenty-five E175s to be delivered from March 2018 through to year-end.
In a statement, the Utah-based capacity provider said that of the twenty-five aircraft, fifteen EMB-175 SC jets would operate for Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) under the Delta Connection banner featuring a 70-seat configuration. The EMB-175 SC aircraft has an E175 airframe and can be retrofitted to 76 seats in the future.
The remaining ten aircraft in the order - EMB-175s - will be placed with Alaska Airlines (AS, Seattle Tacoma International) under the Alaska SkyWest brand. These aircraft will feature seventy-six seats.
SkyWest said it would invest approximately USD90 million in cash to acquire the twenty-five new aircraft, and to finance the balance of the purchase price with 12-year fixed rate debt.
SkyWest currently operates 103 EMB-175s for and on behalf of Alaska SkyWest, United Express, and Delta Connection.
