Tropic Ocean Airways (TI, Fort Lauderdale International) has placed an order with Cessna Aircraft Company parent firm, Textron Aviation, for four Cessna (single turboprop) Grand Caravan EXs with options for several more.
In an interview with Business Journal, the Florida-based carrier's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rob Ceravolo said the added capacity would be used to boost its Fort Lauderdale International operations with flights to new, if unspecified, destinations in the Caribbean.
At present, Tropic Ocean's scheduled operations out of Fort Lauderdale focus on Bullock Harbour, Treasure Cay, Marsh Harbour, and Bimini North SPB in the Bahamas along with St. Petersburg Albert Whitted and Miami Watson Island seaplane base. It also operates from New York to the Hamptons, Fire Island and other resort destinations.
Operationally it employs a fleet of eleven including 208B EX (Wheeled), Cessna (single piston) 206 amphibians, Cessna 208 amphibians, and Cessna 208B EX amphibians.
