The director general of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has confirmed two start-up carriers have submitted applications for Air Operator's Licences (AOL) to the regulator.
Speaking to The Bangkok Post, Chula said the applicants are looking at offering domestic services and as such, their requests will be considered later this month by a committee. Thereafter, they will be forwarded to Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith for confirmation.
If granted, the entrants will then be able to start their respective AOC drives, he said.
As previously reported, Wisdom Airways (Chiang Mai) has already outlined plans to start domestic operations using a Cessna (single turboprop) Grand Caravan 208B later this year.
Separately, Chula confirmed that the next commercial carrier that is set to secure its renewed AOC is Orient Thai Airlines (Bangkok Suvarnabhumi). The other eight prospects are expected to secure theirs by January next year.
