North Star Air (Ontario) (0N, Thunder Bay) has taken delivery of its maiden ATR72-500 following the arrival of C-FNSJ (msn 914) in Winnipeg International this past weekend.
According to Skyliner Aviation, the 7.6-year-old turboprop was positioned to Canada from Ho Chi Minh City, home of its previous operator VASCO - Vietnam Air Services, via Petropavlovsk Yelizovo and Anchorage Ted Stevens. It is the first aircraft of its type to ply commercial services in the country.
Earlier this year, North Star Air had wet-leased ATR42-300 C-GLDE (msn 374) from West Wind Aviation (Saskatoon) for a brief period. The ATR - Avions de Transport Régional turboprop was subsequently replaced with a Dash 8-200 wet-leased from R1 Airlines (Calgary).
A unit of Cargo North (Thunder Bay), North Star Air also operates a Beech (twin turboprop) King Air 65, two Cessna (single turboprop) Grand Caravan 208Bs, five DC-3s, and six PC-12s on scheduled flights throughout Northwestern Ontario.
