Starbow Airlines (Accra) could resume flight operations as early as this July, Ghana's deputy Aviation Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko has revealed.
The carrier suspended operations in November last year after its only ATR 72-500 suffered a runway excursion on takeoff from Accra.
According to Ghana's Starr FM radio, Okyere-Darko told parliament last week that an investigation had pointed to pilot error as well as poor weather conditions at the time. As such, Starbow was directed to review its operational procedures and retrain its crews.
“Currently, as we speak, they plan to come back in July,” Okyere-Darko told Starr Business. “They are re-strategizing, re-organizing themselves."
The ch-aviation fleets module indicates that of Starbow's two ATR72-500s, both leased from Nordic Aviation Capital, 9G-SBF (msn 743) is on repair in Accra while sistership OY-YBU (msn 541) is still in Billund awaiting delivery to Ghana where it will eventually become 9G-SBG.
