Ghanaian start-up PassionAir (OP, Accra) is planning to commence flight operations later this month using Dash 8-400 equipment.
Chief Operating Officer Idi Maswaure told Ghana's Business & Financial Times (B&FT) that the start-up will take delivery of its first Q400 mid-month following which it will be deployed into service between Accra and Kumasi.
“Our operational plan is that we will start operating Accra-Kumasi with the first aircraft, we will gradually increase our frequency to three frequencies—that might last for just a few days—and then up until five frequencies per day," he said.
Thereafter, with the arrival of a second of the type, PassionAir will further increase its Kumasi frequencies while adding Tamale to its network. The arrival of a third Q400 will then see both more flights to Tamale as well as the opening of service to Takoradi.
Other prospective start-ups include Baby Jet Airlines, AL!9CU-o, Unity Air (Ghana) (using Air Futures Airlines), ATA Alpha Tango Air, Montrac Air, and DAC International Airlines.
