Three American creditors have filed a lawsuit seeking to force OneJet (Pittsburgh International) into involuntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy after they failed to recover USD4.8 million in debt from the carrier, The Tribune-Review has reported.
The three creditors - Vesper Capital LLC, Kronk Inc., and Fox Chapel - said through their attorney Kirk Burkley that they were "very concerned" about the failure to recoup the money directly from the airline through non-judicial means. Out of the entire claimed amount, Vesper Capital is owed the most (USD4.5 million), with the other two creditors owed USD150,000 each.
Burkley stated that during the last year, OneJet had raised around USD58 million in capital from outside investors. The attorney also said that he expected there would be more creditors filing lawsuits soon.
The Allegheny County Airport Authority, managing Pittsburgh International, is also suing OneJet for USD763,000 in subsidies it had granted to the airline. The carrier subsequently failed to launch all promised routes.
OneJet suspended operations on August 29, 2018. It then intended to relaunch on October 1 as a Part 135-certified air taxi operator. So far, the carrier has not resumed any flights.
