Twin Jet (T7, Marseilles) has announced it will open a base at Lille Lesquin in April 2019 following HOP! (France)'s announcement that it will withdraw from the airfield.
In a statement, the French regional carrier said it would deploy one of its twelve Beech 1900Ds to Lille to run weekday-only shuttle flights to Strasbourg Enzheim and will also open up a new route to Clermont-Ferrand. Thereafter, plans are already in the pipeline to open two more routes from Lille to western France and another to the south.
"This line, which has to compete with the train, still has a clear future thanks to its industrial background that we know very well," airline president Olivier Manaut said. "Agreements have already been negotiated with major users, which allows us, after a single month of marketing, to 'reach such great numbers for reservations.'"
TwinJet also operates bases at Le Puy, Limoges, Lyon St. Exupéry, Marseilles, Metz/Nancy, and Toulouse Blagnac.
