Heritage Aviation (Delhi International) has been cleared to resume flights from Pithoragarh to Dehra Dun after a seven-month-hiatus caused by a security audit by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Press Trust of India (PTI) has reported.
The DGCA ordered the airline to halt the flights after a mid-flight door opening and consequent emergency landing on February 9, 2019. Since then, Pithoragarh, which is located in India's extreme north near the borders with China and Nepal, has remained without scheduled flights.
The route is operated under the UDAN (or Regional Connectivity Scheme) and is Heritage Aviation's only scheduled flight. The carrier plans to operate it 2x daily using Beech (twin turboprop) King Air 350 aircraft.
