Due for completion in May/June 2020, Belgian private jet company ASL Group has broken ground on the construction of a 2,400 square-metre hangar at Antwerp airport. Its second facility at the Belgian airfield will allow the company to not just accommodate its fleet growth, but will also offer hangar space for FBO and business aviation customers.
The new hangar will be located right close to ASL's current hangar and will feature a 40 x 8.2metre door, with free spans of 40metre in both directions.
Philippe Bodson, Chief Executive Officer of ASL Group said in a statement: "We are very proud to start the construction of our second hangar here at the international airport of Antwerp!
"This marks a very important milestone in the development of our company and of our activities, but also in our strong partnership with the airport management team and authorities. We opened our first hangar and our offices here back in 2006 and it has been ASL's most important operational base since then.
"With the growth of our fleet and the expansion of our services, this new hangar marks even more the importance of Antwerp for the future of our company!"
The company has grown significantly in recent years. Its fleet, held jointly with its Dutch subsidiary JetNetherlands (JNL, Amsterdam Schiphol), is now reaching 40 aircraft, distributed across the group's various Belgian and Dutch bases.
Since March 2019, ASL offers ground handling services at Antwerp, located 50 kilometres north of Belgium's capital Brussels, and also at Maastricht and Groningen, in the Netherlands.
