Air Lituanica (Vilnius) is planning to become the new national carrier of Lithuania, the country that has lost its previous national carrier FlyLAL (Vilnius) in 2009 with low-cost carriers Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) and Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) mainly filling the void. Air Lituanica is partially funded by the city government of Vilnius which plans to take a 34% stake in the carrier scheduled for take-off in 2013.
