ANA Holdings has placed a firm order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for twelve B787s with options for five more.
The US manufacturer said the order consists of eleven B787-10s, one B787-9 and options for five B787-9s. Also, the Japanese holding plans to acquire three new B787-9s from Atlantis Aviation Corporation.
The entire purchase will be powered by General Electric GEnx-1B motors.
The B787-10s, which have been selected to serve ANA - All Nippon Airways' domestic routes, will enter service between April 2022 and April 2025 while the B787-9s, scheduled for international service, are due to arrive between April 2024 and April 2026.
According to the ch-aviation fleets module, ANA currently operates two B787-10s, thirty-three B787-9s, and thirty-six B787-8s. Aside from this new order, it has one more B787-10 and eleven B787-9s due from Boeing. These, however, are Rolls-Royce Trent-powered jets.
Collectively, the B787-10 fleet will replace ANA's older B777 fleet used for domestic operations, namely twenty B777-200s (eight standard and 12 -ERs) and twenty-eight B777-300(ER)s.
