TUS Airways (U8, Larnaca) has reaffirmed plans to resume commercial flight operations later this year pending the end of the COVID-19 crisis and the lifting of restrictive measures.
In a statement to ch-aviation refuting online media reports that claimed it had ceased operations, a Tus Airways spokesman highlighted that it had "simply suspended operations" akin to other carriers affected by the pandemic.
"As Tus is currently not permitted to operate its aircraft due to government COVID restrictions, management can not confirm a timeline for the recommencement of operations until it is clear when flight restrictions will be lifted and Cyprus will re-open for tourism," the spokesman added.
According to the ch-aviation fleets module, Tus Airways' fleet entails one Fokker 100 and four Fokker 70s all of which are currently parked at locations that include Larnaca, Maastricht, and Bratislava. While it specialises in charter flights, Tus Airways had planned to rebrand and relaunch itself as an ultra-low-cost-carrier - ELA Cyprus (Larnaca) - during the Summer 2020 season.
