Grant Aviation (GV, Anchorage Ted Stevens) started scheduled flights between Dutch Harbor and Cold Bay on May 16, 2020, marking the resumption of regular air traffic to the former, local radio station KUCB has reported.
Dutch Harbor, the airport serving Unalaska in the Aleutian Islands, has had no scheduled air traffic since RavnAir Group, the owner of PenAir (Anchorage Ted Stevens) and Corvus Airlines (Anchorage Ted Stevens), filed for Chapter 11 restructuring in early April and suspended all flights.
The service will be operated 2x weekly in cooperation with Alaska Airlines (AS, Seattle Tacoma International), which simultaneously launched services to Cold Bay from Anchorage Ted Stevens, providing a one-stop service between Unalaska and the state's largest city.
According to the ch-aviation schedules module, Grant Aviation has also been operating from Dutch Harbor to Akutan SPB (12x weekly), Atka (3x weekly), Nikolski (2x weekly), and Saint Paul Island via Saint George, AK (3x weekly) since April 20. All of these routes, including the newly launched service to Cold Bay, are operated with Piper (twin piston) PA-31 Navajos.
