Kamalame Cay, a high-end private island resort off the central coast of Andros Island, has unveiled plans to launch its own seaplane operation in February.
In a press release, the firm said COCO Bahama Seaplanes (Nassau International) would use amphibians to expand tourism offerings for visitors in larger markets like Nassau and Grand Bahama.
“Recovery of the Family Islands will be accelerated with the arrival of COCO and importantly, without the need for additional direct government investments to expand, rehabilitate or build new airports,” Brian Hew, CEO of COCO Bahama Seaplanes and the chairman and founder of the Kamalame Cay Private Island Resort, said. “COCO will benefit visitors to our beautiful country and will help support a more reliable domestic travel infrastructure allowing residents to move quickly and efficiently throughout The Bahamas and reducing the burden on the government to fly to small, unprofitable markets with large aircraft,” said Hew.
Jet Nassau will be COCO Bahama Seaplanes’ fixed-base operator (FBO) following the signing of a strategic partnership agreement.
Other seaplane operators in the Bahamas include Seabird Air Seaplane Services and Trans Island Airways (GGT, Nassau International) among others.
