MIAT - Mongolian Airlines (OM, Ulaanbaatar) has taken delivery of its first dedicated freighter, a B757-200(PCF), on lease from Aquila Air Capital. 2-TFCA (msn 25397) was ferried from Lleida via Malta International to Ulaanbaatar over the course of July 22-23, 2022. The 30.6-year-old aircraft was formerly operated by United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) as a passenger aircraft and then by ASL Airlines Belgium (3V, Liège) after conversion, the ch-aviation fleets history module shows. It is due to be re-registered as JU-1109 in Mongolia ahead of its August 2022 entry into service.
Chief Executive Officer Munkhtamir Batbayar disclosed plans to add the freighter in an interview with ch-aviation last month.
The Mongolian flag carrier's fleet also comprises three B737-800s, one B737-8 (available for ACMI contracts), and one B767-300ER. It is also wet-leasing a single A330-300 from AirAsia X (D7, Kuala Lumpur International) and has one B787-9 on order from Boeing (BOE, Washington National).
