Pacific Sun (Nadi) has signed a Letter of Intent with Singapore-based aircraft leasing firm, Avation PLC, for the lease of an ATR72-600 tentatively scheduled to arrive in Fiji in April 2014. Should the deal be signed, the aircraft would join the Fijian carrier on a 12-year contract and would aide it in boosting frequencies between Fiji’s largest domestic ports - Suva, Nadi and Labasa - as well as encouraging further travel and trade between Fiji, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Vanuatu, Samoa and Tonga. Once in service, the ATR will join the airline's other turboprops - two ATR42-500s and three DHC-6 Twin Otters - which it operates on behalf of parent, Fiji Airways (FJ, Nadi).
