Cyprus Airways (CY, Larnaca) is planning to commence operations towards the end of the current quarter Airline Route has reported. Schedule data indicates that the start-up is planning to offer a 2x weekly Larnaca-Irakleion, Greece, return service beginning June 28. Operations are on-board A319-100 equipment.
Also known as Charlie Airlines, Cyprus Airways is a 40/60 joint-venture between Russia's S7 Group and a consortium of Cypriot investors. The carrier secured its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Cypriot Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) last month following which it announced plans to obtain an Air Services License (ASL) from the island's Air Transport Licensing Authority (ATLA).
