Emirates (EK, Dubai International) has denied reports it is in talks with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) over the proposed purchase of more A380-800s.
Earlier this week, business wires had quoted informed sources as saying the Dubai-based operator was in early talks to acquire up to twenty aircraft of the type. An agreement was to have been reached before the end of this year in time for deliveries to begin in 2020, they said.
However, in a statement to Reuters, Emirates said it "regularly engages with aircraft manufacturers for product updates and enhancement of current and future aircraft."
Emirates is the world's most prolific operator of the A380 employing ninety-five of the type on flights to all corners of the globe. As of May 2017, it has a further forty-seven A380s on order.
