Bangkok Airways (PG, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) is planning to build an own maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) centre at Sukhothai airport in northern Thailand, which it owns and operates, Bloomberg has reported.

The carrier has not disclosed any further information as to the scale or timeline of the investment.

Bangkok Airways may also consider increasing its 31.6% stake in Samui Airport Property Fund, a stock-market-listed company managing the 30-year leasehold of the Koh Samui airport, President Puttipong Prasattong-Osoth has said. The potential investment will only be undertaken "if the price is right", he has added.

Besides Sukhothai and Ko Samui, Bangkok Airways also owns and operates Trat airport in eastern Thailand. At both Sukhothai and Trat, the carrier is also the only airline present, connecting each of the airports with Bangkok Suvarnabhumi.
