WDL Aviation (Cologne/Bonn) has chosen the E190 for its fleet renewal plans, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of parent firm Zeitfracht Gruppe has said.
In a statement, Wolfram Simon said WDL has since begun soliciting offers on pre-owned aircraft for delivery in early 2019.
"So far, we see a lot of availability coming onto the market later this year through 2020, but prices and lease rates have yet to reflect this reality," he said. "We are ready to buy but the price has to be right - our customers are used to the excellent economics of the BAe146 and we need to align the 190 with that benchmark."
WDL Aviation currently operates three BAe 146-200s (of which two are wet-leased to easyJet) as well as two BAe 146-300s. Of the -300s, one is a QT variant that will be used for freight operations.
