Biman Bangladesh Airlines (BG, Dhaka) has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for the wet-lease of up to two widebody jets to cover an anticipated surge in overall demand during the Hajj 2022 season.

Tender documents seen by ch-aviation show the state-owned airline is looking for "one or two" jets that seat between 270 and 300 passengers in an all-economy lay-out with a 31 inch seating pitch.

In addition, eligible aircraft must not be more than 20 years old as on August 20, 2022. They must also be capable of flying non-stop between Dhaka and Kuwait/Doha Hamad International/Dubai International/Abu Dhabi International without any load penalty (assuming each passenger’s weight including checked baggage is 120 Kg).

The contract will run for 80 days (tentatively from June 1, 2022, to August 20, 2022). The Minimum Guaranteed Hours (MGH) is 550 Flight Hours (FH), per aircraft, for the entire lease term. In the event two aircraft are leased from a single lessor/operator, the MGH is to be combined for a total of 1100 FH for the contract's duration.

The deadline for submissions, which is open to airlines, operators, aircraft owners, and/or lessors, is 1000L (0400Z) on January 24, 2022.
