My Freighter (C6, Tashkent International) has acquired its first aircraft, B747-200CSCD UK47088 (msn 23139), which was ferried from Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta to Tashkent International on October 23. The arrival of the 37.7-year-old plane signals the start of a new operating model for the Uzbek logistics provider which to date, has exclusively used Uzbekistan Airways (HY, Tashkent International) aircraft for its airborne cargo needs.
"The acquisition of a new jet will be an important step in expanding Uzbekistan's capabilities as a hub for international cargo transportation," a My Freighter statement said.
The freighter last flew for Jet Star (Moldova) (Chisinau International) before going into storage at Jakarta in 2013. It was later acquired by US-based Greenapple Inc and was registered as N287DE before ownership was transferred this year to My Freighter USA LLC.
Since 2019, My Freighter has acted as a general cargo agent for Uzbekistan Airways and used their B767-300ER(BCF)s to regularly operate cargo charters to Shanghai Pudong, Seoul Incheon, Ostrava, and Hong Kong International. The arrival of UK47088 therefore increases the total cargo capacity on My Freighter flights from 50 tonnes to 105 tonnes.
With the B747 freighter offering expanded capacity and additional range, so My Freighter says it will operate services to China, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the United States. So far this year, My Freighter has operated 410 cargo flights. According to the carrier's general director, Abdulaziz Abdurakhmonov, the B747-200C will not remain My Freighter's sole aircraft for long. as there are plans to purchase another five B747s and a five-year strategy to increase the fleet to 20 aircraft.
My Freighter declined to comment on the status of its AOC drive as well as exact future fleet plans when contacted by ch-aviation.
