K2 Airways (KTA, Karachi International) has ferried in its first B737-400(BDSF). The aircraft, currently registered as VP-CFG (msn 29210), flew into Pakistan after undergoing pre-delivery maintenance at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta. The freighter - the carrier's first - is expected to enter into the local register as AP-BOI.

K2 Airways switched to freight-only operations after a plan to lease two passenger-configured E190s fell through in 2023 after the aircraft supplier could not fulfil the commitment and supply a second aircraft. K2 had hoped to start passenger charter flights but local regulations stipulate an operator must have a minimum of two aircraft to obtain or retain a passenger charter air operator's certificate (AOC).

K2 Airways CEO Tariq Raja told ch-aviation he hoped to secure a second freighter later this year, bed the cargo operations down, and then take another look at starting a passenger charter operation. He said he hoped to have AP-BOI start revenue operations within the next few weeks.

According to ch-aviation PRO airlines data, there is only one other active cargo-only operator based in Pakistan, Air Falcon (FPK, Lahore International), although that operator does not appear to have any aircraft of its own.
