Batavia Air (Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) has been declared by the Central Jakarta Commercial Court bankrupt earlier on Wednesday, January 30. Batavia has announced that it will suspend all operations as of midnight tonight. It operates a fleet of five A320-200s, one A321-200, two A330-200s, fourteen B737-300s, nine B737-400s and one B737-500. Talks with AirAsia (AK, Kuala Lumpur International) and its Indonesian partner Fersindo about a sale of the carrier had failed back in October and Batavia had already constantly cut back routes and frequencies since then reportedly also failing to pay leasing fees for several of its aircraft.
