AeroLap Paraguay Airlines (Asuncion) could see its inaugural flights pushed back to either September or October following remarks made by the head of the Paraguayan civil aviation authority (Dirección Nacional de Aeronáutica Civil - DINAC). The start-up had previously pointed to a potential June/July launch date.
During a news conference held on May 27 in the Paraguayan capital, Asuncion, the director-general of DINAC, Luis Aguirre, said the regulatory body was still studying Air Europa (UX, Palma de Mallorca) and AeroLap's plans to open up services between Asuncion and Madrid Barajas. Aguirre gave no exact date as to when the licences would be granted noting only that it could come in either September or October.
AeroLap currently has three ex-Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith) B767-300(ER)s in storage at Kansas City International in anticipation of its future launch.
