AeroLap Paraguay Airlines (Asuncion) has returned one of its three B767-300(ER)s, N254MY (msn 25443), to Kansas City International where it will be proffered to the local charter market for flights to the Caribbean. Airline representative, Luis Morínigo, told Paraguay's ABC news that the decision to return the aircraft to the United States until October 14 was necessary given delays in the airline's certification.
"[The plane] had been parked for three months. To this day, we have heard nothing from the Paraguayan civil aviation authority (Dirección Nacional de Aeronáutica Civil - DINAC). Aerolap submitted all documentation that was requested but the license still has not even been discussed by DINAC's board," he said adding that inspite of the delays, the carrier's backers had no intention of pulling out.
Last month, the DINAC warned that the start-up's original July launch plans were ambitious given that an Air Operators Certificate would likely only be granted during the latter half of this year.
