Dobrolet (Moscow Sheremetyevo) successor, Бюджетный перевозчик ('Byudzetniy Perevozchik' - "Budget Air Carrier"), has begun its certification process Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) has announced.
According to its application, using a fleet of three B737-800s, Byudzetniy Perevozchik plans to commence scheduled budget services from its Moscow Sheremetyevo hub to Ufa, St. Petersburg, Samara Kurumoch, Perm Bolshoye Savino, Volgograd, Sochi, Tyumen Roschino, and Surgut, beginning October 27. The carrier has already taken delivery of two Boeing 737-800s on lease from Babcock and Brown Aircraft Management (BBAM).
Given the time involved and the importance of the project, it is believed Moscow may expedite the issuance of an Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) to the start-up. At present, AOCs in Russia usually take up to 60 working days from application to issuance the Itar-Tass newswire reports.
it has since emerged that Moscow Sheremetyevo airport has offered the carrier space at its new Terminal "B" beginning in February 28, 2015.
As previously reported, Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo) board members chose a generic name for the carrier as means of protecting the Dobrolet brand which, they believe, established a valuable reputation shortly before it was forced to suspend operations in August of this year.
