InvestAvia (Almaty International) has had its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) suspended by the Kazakh Civil Aviation Committee (KCAC) for alleged use of forged documents.
According to Central Asian Aero News, a KCAC investigation into InvestAvia's operations found that the carrier had failed to implement a critical service bulletin issued by Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) for its CRJ100 aircraft.
It is claimed that in order to extricate itself from any potential penalties, the carrier presented the KCAC with a letter it claimed was issued by the manufacturer extending the validity of the bulletin by 6 months.
Subsequent investigations by the KCAC showed the Canadians had never issued such a letter leading to the revocation of the carrier's AOC on December 2.
The suspension is indefinite with a formal investigation into the carrier's overall business now underway.
The Kazakh carrier had operated a diverse fleet of aircraft ranging from two CRJ100s leased to 7th Sky and Sapsan Air respectively to three Do328-300s, and four Fokker 100s. It had also operated a B767-300(ER), leased from Ukraine's Kharkiv Airlines, for flights to Egypt and Thailand on behalf of the Pegas Touristik tour firm. As it stands, SCAT Airlines (DV, Shymkent) has now assumed the contract.
