Jet Edge (EDG, Van Nuys) has applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for authority to operate scheduled passenger services as a commuter air carrier.
In its application, Jet Edge says it plans to initially operate seven weekly roundtrips between Oakland International and White Plains for an established third party using Gulfstream IVs.
Jet Edge is currently limited to operating no more than four weekly rotations on the route for the indirect air carrier as per the US Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) regulations for non-scheduled operators. If granted DOT approval, the Californian company will be able to increase frequencies for its customer and would consider expanding its city-pairs in the future.
Jet Edge manages and operates a fleet of 44 aircraft on behalf of individual owners, including twenty-four Gulfstream IVs, G450s, Gulfstream Vs, and GVI-G650s, a total of thirteen Gulfstream G200s and Gulfstream G280s, four Falcon 2000s, one Falcon 900, one Challenger 600, and one Global Express. It is believed to be one of the biggest non-government operators of Gulfstream aircraft in the world. It does not intend to acquire additional jets to undertake its proposed commuter air service.
The Californian company was initially established as Western Air Charter in 2006 before being purchased by CJP in 2011 and rebranded as Jet Edge. It provides on-demand air charter transport both at home in the United States and abroad.
