Western Air Charter doing business as Jet Edge (EDG, Van Nuys) has applied to the US Department of Transportation for a certificate of public convenience and necessity allowing it to add and operate two B737-700 BBJs.
The operator said in its filing that it intends to operate "on-demand, single entity charter service using an executive configured Boeing Business Jet 737 ("BBJ") aircraft. Western Air Charter, Inc., dba Jet Edge plans to add one additional similar aircraft as demand dictates".
The carrier plans to add N835BZ (msn 29866) and N834BZ (msn 29102) configured for 16 passengers. It did not disclose in its filing which of the two would be the first aircraft and which is contingent on future demand. Both are owned by Jet Force V. The owner will sign a management contract with Jet Edge, wherein the airline will receive a management fee but will be responsible for all operational and maintenance expenses.
The carrier plans to base the aircraft out of Van Nuys.
"The Company [i.e. Jet Edge] will not incur any fixed cost nor future cost associated with the addition of the proposed aircraft. In addition, the company will be utilising the current infrastructure and staff to manage and operate the proposed aircraft," the carrier added.
Jet Edge manages and operates a fleet of 45 aircraft on behalf of individual owners, including Gulfstream IV, G450, Gulfstream V, GVI-G650, Gulfstream G200, Gulfstream G280, Falcon 2000, Falcon 900, Challenger 600s, Global Express, Legacy 600, and Legacy 650 types.
