Tropic Ocean Airways (TI, Fort Lauderdale International) is planning to significantly expand its network of scheduled seaplane flights out of Miami Watson Island and Fort Lauderdale International following the delivery of four brand new Cessna (single turboprop) 208B Grand Caravan EX during the course of 2018, the carrier has said in a statement.
Benefitting from both the new aircraft and an operating authority recently upgraded to a commuter carrier level, Tropic Ocean Airways intends to expand its scheduled service offerings from both bases to destinations such as Key West International in the US, and a host of airports in the Bahamas, including Bimini North SPB, Marsh Harbour, IATA!PID, and other destinations to be announced later in 2018.
While the carrier has so far mostly focused on passenger charter operations, it already operates scheduled flights out of each of Fort Lauderdale and Miami Watson Island to Bimini North SPB. Out of Fort Lauderdale, it also operates to each of Marsh Harbour and Bullock Harbour.
The carrier currently operates a fleet of eleven float-equipped Cessna Aircraft Company turboprops.
